Brookfield Primary School provides a broad and balanced curriculum, which aims to meet the needs of all its students.
Our curriculum is reviewed annually to ensure it meets the needs of our students, as we aim to ensure that we create opportunities for everyone to achieve success, and ultimately be as independent as possible both within school and beyond their school career.
Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
The EYFS curriculum consists of the Statutory Prime and Specific areas of Communication and Language; Physical Development; Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Literacy; Mathematics; Understanding the World; and Expressive Arts and Design. Pupils are also given access to a range of Outdoor Learning Areas.
From September 2014 the Department of Education has instructed Primary Schools to deliver a new national curriculum to our Key Stage One and Key Stage 2 pupils. Brookfield cover the curriculum requirements through a termly cross-curricular theme.
Here is a useful Department of Education link about the new Primary Curriculum:
In Key Stage One and Key Stage Two we have two year curriculum cycles, which allow us to develop and monitor curriculum coverage and develop children's skills in all subject areas. Please see your child's Year Group Curriculum Cycle Plans for details of what your child will be learning about this term.
If you have any questions regarding the curriculum we teach please contact the school directly.
Equality Act 2010 and Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014
