i-vengers

Leaders in online safety and here to keep everyone at Brookfield Primary School and its community safe online.

This year, we are taking part in an exciting project in which four of our pupils have become i-Vengers.  They will be carrying out a number of exciting missions to help children, parents, staff, governors and our community gain a better understanding about how to stay safe online.

This is a very important role and we will be updating this website to share their progress.

Meet the i-Vengers:

We are Jacob and Kai from Year 5 and Lincoln and Sophia from Year 6.  We are excited to be the first ever i-Vengers, because we will be able to help the school community to be super safe online!

Mission 1 - Assembly

Our very first mission was to produce an assembly to introduce ourselves as i-Vengers.

Due to Covid19 we arranged and presented a virtual assembly, which went really well and we really enjoyed this experience. We shared our PowerPoint with the whole of the school, which allowed us to share our i-Venger roles and our next mission. Everyone now knows what our role is all about and understands that we want to keep everyone safe online.

Mission 2 - Top Tips for Staying Safe Online

During our Christmas Festivities we began thinking of all the new and wonderful technology that our peers might receive for Christmas. Whilst this is wonderfully exciting, we understand as i-Vengers the potential risks technology poses. Therefore, we supported the development of some online safety top tips for our school, that our families can use.

Our 12 top tips will be shared on Class Dojo too all families, but you can also see them below.

Mission 3 - Collecting Data

For this mission we wanted to find out what our school community get up to online.  We sent pupil's an online survey and have explored the results.

We noticed that a number of children in school are accessing games and Apps that are not aimed at their age group.  This included Tik-Tok and Fortnite. We also noticed that pupil's felt there were very few Online Safety Rules at home and there was a lack of healthy screen time being promoted.  We want to make sure that parents and carers know how to keep their children safe online, so we have spent lots of time completing Mission 4.

Mission 4 - Video aimed at Parents about Apps and Games

For this mission, we had to choose one of the games and apps that are being used online in our school. We then produced a help guide video for parents/carers to show them the positive things and negative things about the app/game. We hope that it provides some useful top tips and guidance to keep everyone safe.

Mission 5 - Healthy Selfies

Our iVengers are going to be working with the Year 5 and 6 children to help them to gain a better understanding of healthy selfies.  They will  be exploring around 30 selfies and identifying whether they are safe or unsafe.

We cannot wait for these discussions and to raise awareness of Healthy Selfies. Hopefully this will help and support Year 5 and Year 6 pupils to make mature choices, when taking selfies in the future.

Below is the PowerPoint we will be using. You may find this useful to use at home to promote further discussions.

Mission 6 - NEW iVENGERS

This is our hardest mission yet!  We are soon to be recruiting within our iVengers team at Brookfield Primary School. We are on the look-out for some new Online Safety Heroes!  Over the next term, we will be on our recruitment mission, giving out application forms and then conducting interviews of the potential new iVengers!

All the applicants will be warmly welcomed!
