Governors
Welcome to our Governors’ section.
A message from our Chair of Governors:
Dear Parents/Carers
I’d just like to introduce myself as Brookfield’s new Chair of Governors. Some of you know me as a mum. Some of you know me as a member of the Governing Body and some of you don’t know me at all (please do come and say hello if you see me around.)
As a Governing Body our three main aims are to ;
• Ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
• Hold the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, whilst ensuring the curriculum is well taught.
• Oversee the financial performance of the school, ensuring budgets are effectively and efficiently spent.
I think the most important thing is that Governors are a team, not a collection of individuals or groups with separate agendas. However much we may differ in our opinions and experiences, we are united by our commitment to the school and the responsibility we share for the school’s long term success.
We are also always keen to hear from anyone who is interested in becoming a Governor, especially anyone within our wonderfully diverse community who you believe could bring new skills to our school and of course, if you have any questions or feedback, please contact the school office.
Whilst I am not new to Brookfield or the Governing body (in fact my relationship with the school spans decades), I am excited to get stuck into my new role within our school community and will strive to achieve our goals .
I think I speak for everyone when I say we really plan to support Mrs Walker and the whole Brookfield family push our wonderful little school forward in what is such an exciting stage of its development. We certainly aim to ‘Be The Best We Can Be’.
Yours Faithfully
Kaye Siddall
Chair of Governors.
What is a governing body?
At Brookfield Primary School we have a governing body made up of a team of volunteers both from within and outside the school community. The governing body focuses on the long-term development and improvement of the school, by ensuring that a high standard of teaching and learning, achievement and behaviour are maintained and developed. Meeting are held with the governing body timely, throughout the academic year to discuss safeguarding, school finances, the curriculum, the school grounds and staffing. The common purpose of these meetings is to ensure that the children at Brookfield Primary School receive the best possible education.
Please find below details of how our Governing body is structured, including the names, categories, responsibilities and terms of appointment for each Governor.

Declarations of Business Interests
At the start of every academic year, each Governor is asked to declare any business interests they may have, including any relationships with members of school staff.
At the start of each Full Governing Body or Committee Meeting throughout the academic year, Governors are asked if there are any changes to their initial declarations.
